The AI Image Wars Just Got Weirder!
The last week has been a wild ride in the world of AI image generation - and the pace isn’t slowing down.
OpenAI has released a new image generator natively inside ChatGPT — and it’s making serious waves. This flagship model is a major step up, delivering far better prompt accuracy and finally nailing text rendering inside images, as you’ll see below.
That said, the reason it’s blowing up online right now is… disappointing.
Most of the virality is coming from people style-transferring everything into a Studio Ghibli look. While the tech is impressive, we won’t be sharing that kind of content — out of respect for the original creators, and because at this point, it’s become low-effort engagement bait. This model deserves better.
Meanwhile, Reve AI launched with one goal: realism. It’s a hyper-detailed photo model that blends Midjourney-esque aesthetics with better fidelity to human features, fabric texture, and lighting nuance. Think of it as a cleaner, crisper Midjourney v5 — and it's open to the public now.
Ideogram, one of the new text-in-image champs, just got a glow-up too. The new update finally fixes its character spacing issues, allows custom fonts, and introduces actual typographic control. If you're doing poster work, branding mockups, or any design that relies on readable type - this is a huge deal.
And yet… we’re still waiting on Midjourney v7. It's been teased, delayed, re-teased, tested with mods but still no public release. For now, MJ users are left testing the newer modes and waiting for the big drop!
Why it matters for marketers:
This isn’t just about prettier pictures. These updates mean faster creative iteration, more control over brand visuals, and AI tools that are finally starting to understand design language. For marketers, that translates into more campaign concepts, more client mockups, and more content — without more headcount. The tools are maturing — the question is, are your processes ready for them?
